New Funding for Extensive Mapping of N2O Emissions in Denmark
The Danish Government has funded 5M DKK (€ 670k) to improve the understanding of nitrous oxide emissions from wastewater treatment plants.
The funding aims at better and more precise values for the the utilities' climate gas reporting.
In addition to mapping N2O emissions, WWTPs can use the funds to explore actions for reducing N2O emission. This will provide a better basis for estimating CO2 shadow prices of reduction initiatives. Finally, the investigations will serve as a basis for future reductions of climate gas emissions and national emissions regulation.
The funding period is 2018-2019, and the details (in Danish) can be found at the homepage of the Danish Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Climate.
