The Presentations
What do you kN2Ow about your wastewater plant emissions?
In this session, Chandra and Amber will discuss data measured, challenges, and knowledge gained from two different facilities within Halton Region after measuring N2O for a year to collect baseline data. They will also cover measurement results to operational mitigation strategies currently underway.
Presented by Chandra Baker, Superintendent of Wastewater Treatment at Halton Region, and Amber Klassen, Field Service Engineer at Aquafy.
Understanding N2O Emissions and Low Energy BNR Controls
Over a two year period, NEW Water (located in Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA) has monitored dissolved N2O in a full-scale demonstration basin that has gradually transitioned to a low dissolved oxygen (DO) environment. Via testing of various control strategies and DO setpoints, it was observed that low DO environments did not increase N2O production, provided sufficient adaptation time. N2O was a possible indicator of instability in the system and is being explored in other case studies as a potential tool for identification of process stability and control.
Presented by Tyler Biese, Staff Engineer at NEW Water, Green Bay, Wisconsin and Bishav Bhattarai, PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering and Process Engineer at Black & Veatch.
European perspective: Full-scale N2O monitoring
Across Europe, full-scale N2O monitoring is delivering new insights into emissions from wastewater treatment. In this session, Bastian will share some of the latest data, and discuss what these findings mean for operations and climate goals.
Presented by Bastian Piltz, Sales Manager at Unisense Environment.
